So, we have this band of wild turkeys who roam our roads this time of year. Just three gangly birds, really. So the other day I pointed them out to Bastien as we were driving by.

He took one look and asked, “Do we eat turkey mom?”
I agreed that we did in fact just eat a turkey for Thanksgiving.

His prompt reply? “I want to eat THOSE turkeys.”

On the way home from preschool one day this week, I pointed out to a Santa Claus in someone’s yard. I told Bastien: “Wave to Santa!” So he did. But not before retorting: “And Jesus!”

And sure enough, there was Jesus in the manger, right next to Santa in his sleigh. Somehow, this makes me feel like a successful parent.
