Museum of Life and Science (Durham, NC)

We’ve covered this before – but I think it speaks volumes to say that we re-routed our already torturously long trip home — adding two+ hours just to revisit. This time, we covered some new ground. Mostly, the train ride, which Bastien was desperate to take, then mysteriously developed a phobia of mere moments before boarding. It all worked out though.

Here’s Bastien waiting patiently to catch a butterfly on his hand. And his sister who will push him right out of the way to catch one first if need be.

We are all big fans of the window within the butterfly house that allows you to view new butterflies hatching by the moment. Very cool indeed.

As you can see, Bastien was OK with the stationary old caboose you can climb around in. In fact he clearly indicated his preference for the “broke train” over the working one we paid to ride around in.

And here he is reading the instruction manual on how to brush a puppet’s teeth. Also, preferred over riding the train we had to pay for.

But still, $5 was our total cost here (for said train tix), thanks to our reciprocal science center pass. WORTH IT!
