South Lyon Kite Festival

This weekend we went to this festival on top of the old garbage heap beside I-96. It’s a local favorite place for flying kites because of the wind off the freeway. On the day of the kite festival however, there was NO wind.

So, it started off kind of slow.

But it started to pick up speed.

Right around the time Hadley won the Diaper Derby (a crawling race).

Despite spending the hour prior crawling all over the festival like a maniac, the second we put her in the race she flopped on her belly and screamed in protest. Luckily, her contender did just about the same thing. So they tied. And she scored a huge box of diapers.

Then the festival really took off when the firefighters turned on their hose and let all the kids run through.

Gosh I love summer.
