Mad Props

I loved, Loved, LOVED everything about Hadley’s first birthday party. Well, both of her first birthday parties actually.

What? You find two parties for one birthday excessive?

No way! Bastien had THREE first birthday parties! See, the second kid always gets the shaft.

Anyway about this most recent party… I was pretty much set on an Alice In Wonderland theme from the get-go.

I wanted to pick something relevant to 2010 and there just happened to be this big movie release with all kinds of creative fodder; so I ran with it.

I hand-picked a bunch of ideas off the internet and cobbled it all together, so here are some links to my biggest inspirations:

  • Fell in love with the table setting, sugar cookies and cupcakes seen here
  • But that was before I found this. Get a loada this table setting
  • Then there’s this chandelier
  • Her sticker and banner printouts were lifesavers
  • There were a ton of ideas here. Not sure if I used any?
  • Was beside myself when I found these to stuff in the big kids’ goodie bags. Man I love Dover Little Activity Books.
  • Here’s the lovely woman who designed my invites. I also copied her stacked teacups idea (thank you Salvation Army!) Idea for the teapot centerpieces–found in a BH&G mag at the dentist’s office.
  • And let’s not forget the best bakestress in all the wonderland. She came up with all the cupcake designs – sketched them out and everything! But seriously, she lives in Farmington Hills and you’re gonna want to have her designing your cakes for everything. Like: “Hooray it’s the first Tuesday of the month! Did someone say “cupcakes?”"
  • And finally, much love for our venue – Kids Clubhouse behind Holdens party store in Milford. Let’s see…A party for 25 people, including, um, EVERYTHING for $186. Now you know why we’re contemplating selling our home and just moving there.

  • But only if the bakestress moves too.
