North Carolina Museum of Life and Science, Concord NC

Oh my gosh, where to even START on this wonder? I guess I’ll begin by telling you how I found out about it: why naturally from one of the weekly newspaper clippings my Mom delivered at least a year ago. Thanks, Mom!

This was our first stop on our first leg heading home. We found it hard to tear ourselves away from Duck, North Carolina at a reasonable time that morning (well that, and the smoothie place took about 35 minutes whipping up five smoothies for the road). So we landed at this museum an hour behind schedule, with only an hour and fifteen minutes to explore. Sadly, this was only a fraction of the time we needed to discover even half of this museum.

I painfully forked over the $50 admission (even though the kids were free!) But as soon as we got in I knew it was worth at least twice that amount.

We came for the new dinosaur exhibit, and it was ok, but just about everything else was even more spectacular. Unfortunately, at this point my memory card was reaching capacity, so no video. And Jim’s camera battery was long dead. Bad planning all around. But I do have a few snapshots from the iphones for a basic overview.

If you are ever remotely in the area, you NEED to go here. It’s so great, we had to drag Bastien kicking, screaming, and biting out of every single exhibit. So the fact that I am still left with a very fond impression should speak volumes.
