Give Peas A Chance
I’m always a little disappointed when one of my favorite bloggers’ post of the day is about her garden. This is contradictory on so many levels. I mean all my faves are moms who craft, sew, knit, and tromp around in the great outdoors. Why the heck wouldn’t they want to show off their gardens?
Maybe that’s just it. Show offs.
BUT! This year I have made it my mission to keep at least one of the SIX gardens on our property worthy of showing. Notice, however, I stopped before the “off” part.
Suddenly I can relate to the woman who lived in this house before us with her eight children. Ok, not really on the eight children level. What was wrong with her? But I understand why she had so many freaking gardens to begin with. Kids want to be outside. Like all the time. And when you live upon a mountain and your kids are just wee ones, they are better off under direct supervision. So, if you follow, that means I have to be outside all the time. What better to do when I’m out there than weed, weed, weed. But no matter what, there are always more weeds. With ten inch roots. I am not even joking. But deep in my heart, I know I can beat them.
This is a really long way of telling you that I planted some peas and they are growing heartily!

I also planted pumpkins, carrots (for the horsies, because God forbid they should pass Bastien’s lips) and sunflowers too. I started off with the kid friendly varieties to appease my childish impatience. And let me just say, so far, APPEASED. (I know you are groaning out loud now with the puns. Is that a thing? GOL?)
So, it’s Earth day. Plant something in the Earth today. Pretty peas?
