Easter Prep

Just like any good preschool, we’ve got a regular cohesive theme going on around here. Easter!

Here are some fun things we’ve been up to:
*Making cut-out sugar cookies. The perfect project for a two-and-a-half-year old because we could mix the dough together in the morning, then do the cutting/baking/decorating in the afternoon. Two hands-on projects in one day!
*Having an Easter egg bath. This just entailed putting two drops of food coloring in the kids’ bath water. Bastien LA-OVED it! Hadley just loves being in the big tub, period.
*Life-sized Marshmallow Drop. Have you guys heard of a marshmallow drop? Well we had our own in the living room, sans the helicopter. I just gathered up all the extra pillows we’ve been hoarding in our spare room and piled them on. Fun for both kids. For about 3 minutes. Hmn, maybe not worth it? Perhaps I should have splurged for the helicopter.

Also related to Easter, naturally I am inspired by this post about Eco Friendly Easter ideas. And, I’m considering using these natural dyes this year.

We buy our eggs from our neighbor (who also just happens to be our awesome Wednesday morning babysitter). Because of this, last year we discovered that brown eggs dye so much more brilliantly than white. So if you’ve never tried brown for dying, this year you MUST!

Lastly, gotta thank my friend Lisa for sharing this link. It inspired me the Easter Bunny to stuff our plastic hunt eggs with the sugary cereal we never eat (Trix, Lucky Charms) this year rather than chocolate and jelly beans. I think this is a healthier breakfast? And, I just read the greatest idea in Family Fun magazine about putting puzzle pieces in the eggs instead of food altogether. Next year!

Thursday, I’ll show you the toys I made to stuff their baskets. Don’t hate me.
