Little Miss Earhart

Here we go again. Will I ever tire of knitting great baby hats? Not a chance! And of course, this is another fabulous free pattern you should know about.

I’m not sure which was more enjoyable…knitting it, or seeing her in it. I started this quite a while ago and then abandoned ship because I couldn’t figure out how to pick up and knit to finish the ear flaps/chin strap. But what do you know? That insane Tomten sweater taught me some new tricks which enabled me to complete this hat in no time flat. So maybe sweater knitting isn’t all bad.

This hat is the embodiment of my personal life philosophy by the way. You see, I just tore right into this pattern using a ball of yarn I picked out of a “free” bin at a garage sale. I had no idea how much yarn was in that ball and really didn’t give it a thought. And guess what? It was exactly enough yarn. Blind faith at its finest.

The only iffy thing about the hat is it’s still a bit loose. So if left in it in her car seat for any length of time, it usually ends up askew. Which makes it all the more adorable, don’t you think?
