Baby Earflap Hat

And just like that, I’m in love with knitting again. All it takes is a good baby hat pattern, as it turns out.

This one is from the book Stewart Tabori & Chang Books – Knitting For Baby
Now I know I said I would never buy a pattern until I’ve gone pro, but I bought this book used, so it works out to like 25c a pattern or something ridiculous like that. So many cute, classic projects in here, including the Stay-On Baby Booties for which I bought the book to begin with (but am now too intimidated to try).

This hat goes to my cousin who is due in April. I got a similar hand-knit hat + mitten set at one of my baby showers three years ago (incidentally, one of the hottest days of the year). Now it is one of my very favorite things. On this very chilly February day. With a baby who likes to yank off any hat that isn’t securely fastened ‘neath her chinny chin chin.
