Zelie

We had the honor of meeting our newest niece this weekend. Isn’t she darling?

Somehow she sort of looks like she’s 14 already, though at our time of meeting she was only 9 days old.

Her namesakes include St. Therese (The Little Flower) (You Royal Oakers may be familiar with Shrine of The Little Flower which was also named in her honor) and St. Therese’s mother, Zelie.

It means “Solemn.”

Now I am pretty sure it is in bad taste to be envious of a name your family has chosen for their child. But I’m not embarrassed to admit I think it’s the best name I’ve heard yet.

So, in order for this meeting to occur, we had to drive 7 hours. In the same day. There. And back. And do you want to know the truth? It was one of my favorite Saturdays in recent history. Kids buckled safely in the back. Time to knit, work on taxes, listen to an audio book…

With a few hours of baby-sniffing sandwiched in the middle.
