Potty Training, Day 2

This morning Bastien was a tiny bit damp in the diaper when he awoke. But after breakfast (9:00), he had a successful trip to the potty and he is now trying again at 10:30. He isn’t resisting going, but needs lots of distractions in there to keep him entertained. I think it’s safe to say Jim and I could both recite the new Toy Story book by heart.

At 11:00 we had a long trip to Costco with no accidents! Just in case, we put a diaper over his big boy pants, and talked a lot about where the pee pee and the poo poo go.

When we got home, Bastien managed to pee in the potty and then also (unfortunately) a little in the living room. However, none of our fancy tricks have enabled him to go #2 yet. These have included turning his Woody undies into a puppet (which he liked very much) and even letting him try to go it alone with pacifier and potty chair in his room. Right now he is throwing the biggest fit of all time because it is nap time. We are feeling at our limit. Perhaps a step or two beyond.

5:15 – WE HAVE POO POO IN THE POTTY!!! Calling everyone who cares: This was a BIG deal and he seemed ready and knowledgeable about what he was doing. What a great recovery from a nasty pre-nap time! He is thoroughly enjoying his “big candy cane” reward.

Back-to-back pee incidences in the kitchen around dinner time. Ugh.

A good pee on the potty before bath time, hooray!
