Let’s Hear It For The Weekend!

In the whole two-and-a-half years we’ve lived on our (largish) property, we’ve never had a weekend as perfect as this last one to clean up the yard and just generally get ready for winter. Not to rush away Fall or anything, because it truly is the most lovely season of them all: the skies, the smells, the foods, the running, the traditions…Gosh it doesn’t get better than Fall in Michigan. Though honestly I could do without the football.

BUT, this year we are geared up for winter. For one, just think how how much Bastien is going to love sledding down our mountain front lawn. Also, I recently acquired some snowshoes as an early birthday gift. And I am certain they are going to change my whole outlook on winter. Perhaps if you had to trek a quarter mile to your mailbox, or recently read that the road commission would be slower to plow out your dirt roads this winter, you’d be giddy about your new snowshoes too!

Anyway, these are some scenes from our fabulous Fall weekend. Once Jim had this idea that we should make a tear-off calendar to count down the 10 perfect days of weather we get in Michigan each year. But honestly, we’ve referenced tearing off a page of that calendar so many times this year already, I think we’re going to have to make it 50 days for 2010. Here’s hoping!

P.S. Another bit of excitement from the weekend: someone contacted me through my old etsy.com shop asking if I’d be selling my Hometown Hoodies (like the one Bastien’s wearing above–click on this to see the ones I’ve sold) for the holidays. I was really flattered and thought I might advertise it a bit here too, in case you’re shopping for cute handmades for the little boys in your life too!
