It seems like Hadley barely gets any press at all on this family blog. I’ve been contemplating the reasons why, and pretty much it boils down to the fact that she’s the best baby in all the land, leaving me little to complain about. Plus, you know, she’s only been alive for four months.

Let me tell you a little about Hadley… She requires such little attention that she actually acts flattered when you bother to glance her way. She emits merely a whimper of protest when her brother kicks her in the head, or comes only centimeters from slapping her square in the eyeball with a rattle. She even sleeps 12-13 hour stretches every single night and doesn’t even complain when she has to wait yet another hour to eat because mommy’s out running.

Speaking of feeding, with such a scanty eating schedule (and only breast milk at that — though I did recently catch Bastien trying to wedge a tortilla chip into her mouth) how is it that she’s in the 95th percentile for weight? That’s right people, I’ve been lugging around a 4-month-old who weighs almost 17 pounds, feel sorry for me.

Fortunately, she’s also in the 90th percentile for height. So if she wants to be the first female NFL linebacker, she can go right ahead and do that. I’m all about giving my children opportunity.
