Vacation Recap

Well we’re back. We missed ya’ll, but it was a joyful time all told, despite several poop incidences. I’m sorry I made you read poop. But seriously, there was actually a poop incident that made me shriek out loud. Prior to that, I’m not sure when last I actually shrieked. Unfortunately, this particular incident was on Jim’s birthday, a day I was trying to make perfect. What can I say? When you have a newborn with a touchy stomach, perfection often just means going with the flow. Ok, enough about poop. Very sorry about that.

Here are the things that really made our almost annual Jekyll Island vacation:
Watching Bastien’s fearless LOVE of water parks
Watching Bastien LOVE his first fireworks display
Having a baby that happily passed out every single time we braved the blazing 100 degree weather
Devouring day after day of dang good southern cooking (Grand Dining Room at The Island Club Hotel, Barbara Jean’s, The Georgia Pig and Gary Lee’s are and always will be officially on theJLBs recommended restaurant list)
A 3-ice cream sandwich minimum daily intake
Reading an ENTIRE book. (“Mandy” – thanks Jeanine, just the right pace, LOVED it!)
A king-sized family bed
The dialect. Particularly “Just right” when doling out correct change.
Being on “Island Time”
Nannies. I mean, family.
NO PETS. Anywhere.

And now that we’re back, I’m realizing crap, I don’t remember how to watch two babies by myself anymore. So I’m on to planning our next vacation. We’re thinking another trip to the Outer Banks is in order – and we are bringing hostages nannies next time. Courtney and Kelsey, please submit your college vacation schedule. Pronto.
