Vacation Prep
Busy, busy, busy around these parts. Getting ready for “the best family vacation of all time”. But we’ll settle for just “the vacation,” if it comes to that.
I’ve purchased and wrapped all of Bastien’s little plane diversion trinkets. A lot of this job got outsourced actually, and for this I am very thankful.

Grandma B. found him a cute little wooden airplane and a book. Aunt Courtney and Kelsey got him a mini Play-Doh factory, Barrel of Monkeys, some tiny books and candy. To round things out, I found some buckle straps around the house, which I am pretty sure could consume the entire length of the flight as my child is still buckle-obsessed. I also got him some wooden beads to string and am hopeful he finds this engaging. And yes, I completely envision loose monkeys, Play-Doh, chocolate and beads all over the entire cabin of our plane and I rejoice, because for once IT IS NOT MY LIVING ROOM.
Then, as promised, in my spare time I made him this Tractor board book.

As it turns out, putting letters on straight is not my skill set. But luckily toddlers could give a hoot about such things.
And then, in my other spare time, I made all of Bastien’s clothes for vacation. And some for Hadley too.

People, I know what you are thinking and it even boggles my mind that I was able to do this. Let’s see…My baby refuses to be put down, we’ve spent day after entire day at the beach lately, I’ve been teaching yoga classes around the entire Metro Detroit area, and I’ve even had some freelance work and still, there was always a little time left in the day for sewing.

I made my own patterns, and for this I am especially proud. DO NOT TELL MY MOM. It will stress her out until the end of time. She is very precise and uses patterns for everything. But I am not a measurer by nature, so I was really flying by the seat of my pants on these, and amazingly they all fit. And I’m banking on them not even falling apart while we’re on vacation.
I’m calling them Baggies and Bloomers. If you are a sewer (ahem, Scott), and would like these patterns, let me know and I will try to post some PDFs or instructions on the site when we return. I think they will make for some stellar photo shoots.
