Words, words, words
I am craving some predictability in my life right now. With my “permalance” position morphing into a real freelance gig, I never know when I’m going to have to sit down and write some serious stuff. You know, for money. So all this daily wondering if I’ll be making money and if I’ll be expected to write words that actually satisfy a client makes for confusing times. As if we need any more confusion around here.
Because let me tell you what’s even more confusing: Bastien’s ever-expanding vocabulary. Now it’s not just “car, car, car” ever minute of every day (just every other). And let’s be clear–”car” to Bastien means, car, truck, bike AND tractor. Especially tractor. And sometimes it even means dishwasher. Yes, a dishwasher has wheels in its makeup, check it out the next time you pull out the drawer.
Lately, Bastien’s fond of asking for the “B.B.” Luckily, he does this with the T.V. remote in hand for clarification. Also, he enjoys a good “boo”, which of course is a movie.

At least a million times a day he asks to go “hide” which really means outside. This is clear because it is always followed by “shoe.” Shoe. Shoe. Shoe. Shoe.
“Dee” is drink, with “Wawer, wawer, wawer” reserved for when we have locked him too long in his apparently arid bedroom.
In the confusing category, this leaves us only with “No.” Lucky for us, this means “more and “down” in addition to plain old “no”. And as you might imagine, he pulls this one out a lot.
Useful words he knows are: pool, baby, nigh-nigh (meaning bed AND pacifier), Da, and Mommy. But he never calls us that to our faces. He just points.
