Reader Participation Week: Summer Book!
Ok, so maybe an entire recipe was a bit hefty for a Monday morning assignment. But boy am I excited that I have now increased my recipe collection 3-fold! Thank you so much for helping a sister out. My starving family thanks you too.
So today I am in need of a good book recommendation. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I think I might actually be willing to trade some sleep for some reading. Precious, precious sleep. Anyway I figure, if all else fails, I can always read aloud. You see Hadley smiles when you talk now. And this would give me lots of things to say to fuel those gorgeous, goofy grins.
Here’s the catch: I really like to read juvenile fiction in the summer. There is something just so light and, well, summery about it. Plus, let’s just be honest. I have two children under two. My brain is obviously not functioning at warp speed here.
Last summer I read The Underneath by Kathi Appelt. It was mostly about an abused dog chained up underneath a porch. Gah, that made for some sad summer reading. Mazzy has NO IDEA how good she has it. Anyway, if you can get past the whole sad, starving, abused dog thing, it’s a pretty fun read.
The summer before that I read the entire Little House series. I think I could pretty much read those books on repeat for the rest of my life. But I’m guessing you can help me find something equally as engaging.
So tell me…what should I read this summer?
