It Takes Two to Maypole Dance

This weekend, Bastien spent some QT with “his” tree. When I bought it, I was told it was a Lollipop Tree (not to be confused with the Lollipop Tree of Family Feud fame–but wouldn’t that be cool?). After doing some googling, I think Lollipop Tree was just English Garden’s covert name for Crabapple. But since I haven’t seen it in bloom yet, I can’t be quite sure.

So we decided it was finally safe to take off the ratty bark protection paper. And I guess it just looked so festive and fun that Mazzy couldn’t resist joining in. Which prompted Bastien to try tearing it off with his teeth as well. And all I have to say about that is I’m glad the roots are still in the ground. Because there for a minute, it was a close one. Mighty close.
