Toddler Time, Take Two
Bastien is really getting into the swing of Toddler Time at the library. What I don’t understand is how he was able to NOT MOVE A MUSCLE throughout the reading of FOUR straight books today. Perhaps it was the riveting subject matter (scary, scary dinos)? Regardless, until this morning, I was unaware that such rapt attention was physically possible for Bastien. I even wondered if maybe the library didn’t pipe a little gas into that room.
The funniest moment by far was in fact the very first moment, when Miss Librarian turned on the song “Shake Your Wiggles Out”. Upon the first note of the song, Bastien clapped his hands enthusiastically and cheered “yay” in the loudest, highest, girliest voice you can imagine. And then he sat perfectly still. For the next 15 minutes.
He did venture under the parachute (about a half a foot or so) and he did participate in craft time (if you count putting the lid on the glue stick and putting away unused crayons as participating). He even seemed to enjoy wearing his freshly-crafted Triceratops hat–which incidentally was far too small for his newer, bigger head. And I’m sorry if this makes me an insensitive mother, but I did find it kind of amusing to see him with more horns on his head. Speaking of the noggin’, check out this progress. Not so boxy anymore!
