Look Who’s 18-Months Old Today

To celebrate this big milestone, we dutifully attended our well-baby visit. Bastien’s not a big fan of doctors or nurses these days as it turns out. But we managed to suffer through. Pacifier, how we do love you. The nurse tried to convince me that his head doesn’t look that weird and anyway it’s the eyes, it’s all about the eyes.

So, the new official weight is 27.6 lbs (with clothes on) and height: 31 1/4″. We got a head circumference too, but they didn’t write it down for me and really what’s the point? Also, he got his last shot until kindergarten time. Hooray for that. With promises like these, maybe we’ll postpone kindergarten until age, oh I don’t know… 35.
On the developmental questionairre, I responded “yes” to “Knows 10+ words”. I think that was a lie. Let’s see…
Woof
Caw Caw
Moo
Meeeow (as of this morning)
(sensing a theme here…?)
Hi
H’lo = Hello
Bye
See (and sometimes “I See” or “See You” or “See See”)
Uh oh
Thank you (working on this one–at least he has the cadence right)
Well look at that – 10 words. And come to think of it these may be all the words one truthfully ever needs in his vocabulary.
PS. Lately he’s also been known to sing a version of E-I-E-I-O. Does that count as one word, or five?
PPS. Another question was “Throws a Ball?”. Well he can hit one with a hockey stick. And this I heard from the doctor’s mouth: “Then he’s a hockey player, not a baseball player”. Done and done.
