Bastien’s CVR – Post-op Day 11

We missed another couple of days, so here are the highlights:

Had a post-op follow up with the plastic surgeon on Thursday afternoon. Everything’s looking good. He suggested that we try to get Bastien to sleep 1/3 of the time on his right side and 2/3 on the left so that his swelling evens out. We both thought he was joking at first, but he appeared to think that was actually a reasonable suggestion. The nurse seemed a little freaked out by how active and busy he was, since, you know, his head is very fragile at the moment, and cracking his still-healing skull on anything is a bad thing.

Friday night, Bastien had his last dose of the antibiotic. We’ll have to find some other cruel and unusual torture methods. Like making him brush his teeth.

Saturday, we worked a lot on the high and low fiving. Bastien is pretty good at it, and certainly enthusiastic.

Also, he says something that resembles “rock, rock” (it’s more like “gock, gock”) and seems to understand what it means. By that, I mean he says it when he’s rocking (on a horse or in a chair) or sees something that can rock.

Top picture is from this morning, bottom is from last night (he’s in the middle of having some ice cream and brownies).
