Mittens – Check!

Bastien loves his new little thumbless mittens. Mostly taking them off and handing them to me to put them back on him again.

So it looks like I need to add a string between them to thread between his sleeves so he doesn’t lose one immediately.

I had a heck of a time finding a free pattern online for knitting these. Oh, don’t get me wrong, there were tons of free patterns to be found. But none that I considered beginner level. So if you get the hankerin’ to knit a pair for your 1-2-year-old, here’s what I did:
cast on 32 stitches
k2, p2 for 17 rows
k for 32 rows
1st decrease: *k3; k2 together, repeat from * across the row
k one row
2nd decrease: *k2; k2 together, repeat from * across the row, as far as you can
k one row
bind off all stitches, leaving a 10″ tail
fold in half and sew together, using the 10″ tail to sew the top and the tail left from casting on to sew the rest.
I used size US 5 needles and my yarn was Lyon Brand Micro Spun (2.5oz) in “Cherry Red”
Alright, fall, show us what you’ve got!
