Oh, How We Do Love Kensington

We’ve lived in Milford for a little over one year now. Bumpy roads aside, I truly think it becomes more special to us each and every day. One place we particularly enjoy is Kensington Metropark, which is but a stone’s throw away. So close, indeed, that we were able to catch a bit of this year’s DSO performance right on our own front porch.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, I run at Kensington with my mom and Mazzy (and usually Bastien rides along). Each time, as we run past the park’s many attractions, I get excited for him about the days ahead. Riding bikes, playing at the beach, paddle boating across the lake, running around in the water park and hiking on the nature trails. I can see it all in our future.

And today, after our run, we checked out the Farm Center. Maybe it was the dreamy weather. Maybe it was just the escape from my overflowing work email inbox. Whatever it was, it was perfect.

As a nursing mother, few things seem more fascinating to me these days than other nursing mothers. I really felt like we humans have it rather easy as I watched this mama pig who never seemed to get a break.

And then we ventured into some new construction happening at the Center: The Children’s Cottage. It is just so quaint and immediately I knew it is exactly what I want in my yard as my yoga studio. I tried to capture it the best I could.

But I think I’ll have to send Jim back with his better camera. Besides, he’ll be the one building it for me, so he better have a look-see himself.

We finished the visit with some lunch in the Farm Center’s new dining facility which is very charming. Though the food, not quite. But regardless, we just had such a great morning–a morning worth sharing. And for that one day in the smack dab of winter when I question our move “way out here”, I want to have this post to look back on and remember. Oh, how we do love Kensington.
