Blow out
So we’ve been doing this cloth diapering thing for a month now. We started with 27 size 0 Kissaluvs. Very cute, easy to use and wash. We wrapped them with Bummis Super Whisper Wraps to keep the wet in. Never had an issue with newborn poo leaks.
But all of a sudden last week Bastien was always wet and his Bummis always smelled. This really threw a wrench into my plan of using Kissaluvs for 6 months. After doing some research, I discovered I might have ruined the covers with the detergent I was using. Then I found out you can actually fix them. But that was not until I went out and bought 24 BumGenius 2.0 diapers. These things are amazing! They will grow with him until he is out of diapers (tho a bit bulky now). I am so happy to report that Bastien can go all night in his BumGenius without changing, and without wetting his pj’s, bed, etc. This is cloth diapering the way it should be.
I also want to report that cloth diapering is not nearly as complicated or inconvenient as most people think. You just have an extra load of laundry every other day. But you don’t have to run to the store when you’re out of diapers. And the best part is, the money we’ve spent on diapers will be about half what most people spend on disposables. Plus, we can use them on the next kid!
Finally, I wanted to show the result of one day in paper diapers as I was making the transition from Kissaluvs to BumGenius. Major blow out. Not pretty.
